How do I add an expense to a Monzo Split?

If you are using the same device, either go to your Split link (we recommend bookmarking it for ease) or go to split.monzo.me to be able to access your Monzo Split again. \n If you are logged out or using a different device then go to your Split link or go to split.monzo.me. You’ll be asked to enter an email address and this will send you a magic link. Click on the link to access your Split again.

I’ve just closed the Monzo Split page, how do I get back on it?

You’ll need to be invited by a Monzo customer. Once you’re invited, there are two ways to join – by scanning a QR code on their app, or via email/message. \n Whichever way you choose, we’ll send you a magic link that’ll give you access to the Split. \nYou can use Monzo Split on your phone, desktop or iPad.

Invite links are valid only for certain amount of time to ensure safety. In case you are unable to access the invite link, please ask your Monzo friend to re-share a new invite link.

The invite link doesn’t work, what do I do?

At the moment, no features are locked in a Monzo Split.

What features are locked in a Monzo Split?

At the moment, no. You’ll need to pay in cash or by bank transfer through your own banking app. \n Similarly, if you add a payment, then the people who owe you money will need to pay you in cash or by bank transfer.\n Once you’ve made a payment, you mark it as 'paid' within the Split. Your Monzo friend will be able to see this, too.

Can I pay and be paid via the Split itself?

Monzo Split reduces the number of transfers needed to pay people back. We do the maths, ensuring everyone pays the correct share. You might notice that we sometimes you won’t have to pay people for exactly what you owe in the Split. \nDon’t worry, you’re still paying the right amount – we just do it this way so that you don’t have to transfer money to as many people.

How do I transfer money between shared tabs?

If you’ve been sent a valid invite link but are still having trouble joining a Monzo Split, make sure you’re using the same browser (e.g Chrome, Safari, Firefox) for opening both the invite link and the magic link. \n Some social media apps such as Instagram and Snapchat have their own internal (webview) browsers which aren’t always compatible with our invite links. If you’re using one of these apps to open your invite, try copying the link and pasting it into a different internet browser.\n Similarly, your mail app might be opening the magic link in its own internal browser too. Make sure to open the magic link on the same browser you requested it from.

I’m having trouble joining a Monzo Split or logging in, what do I do?

Splits let you send and receive money, and keep track of joint expenses like household bills and holidays. Think of it like a group wallet.\n You can now be added to a Monzo Split even if you’re not a Monzo customer. We’ve only just made this change, so we’re open to any feedback you have.
